In the cozy street of Šv. Zita, where the noise of the city disappears, at the very end of the street dwells a two-story house that remembers the beginning of a prior century. One of the brightest personalities of the country and Panevėžys, a teacher, a writer, a member of the first Constituent Assembly of Lithuania, who paved the way to a law of Men and women‘s equal opportunities, the first lady who stood as a candidate to be a Lithuanian President, Gabrielė Petkevičaitė-Bitė lived here for eleven years since 1932 until the very death. Three private apartments, premises of Artists Union Panevėžys unit and 2 rooms that are owned by an association “Bitės namai” are currently equipped in this building of 300 square meters. Next to the house, a commemorative plaque has been built to commemorate G. Petkevičaitė-Bitė.
