Berčiūnai

On a summer weekend afternoon, immerse yourself in a corner of nature full of greenery - Berčiūnus, a suburb of Panevėžys, which was a popular resort town in the last century. Today, pedestrian and bicycle paths have been built in the beautiful pine forest, wooden sculptures have been built, a unique telephone tree and the river bank are showing off.

Wealthy residents rested in this resort, and the city's intelligentsia had villas: the famous people of Panevėžys and even Lithuania, such as the public figure, writer Gabrielė Petkevičaitė-Bitė, poet Salomėja Nėris with her husband Bernard Bučas, it was also a favorite resting place of Jews. Now the wooden villas are being restored and given a new life.

From Panevėžys, you can reach Berčiūnus via a newly installed pedestrian-bicycle path along the Nevėžio river.
