Flax Museum

The old Stultiškiai windmill was built in 1880. Interestingly, the windmill was built around a giant pine which was later cut-off and the millstones have been fixed around its trunk. In 1994, the windmill was restored and adapted for tourist purposes. Now the three-storey windmill is a flax museum where you can try to process the flax yourself using the 19th century method at the educative session. The museum’s ground floor exhibits the ancient flax process equipment such as: flax brake, flax comb, spinning wheel etc. The first floor exhibits combed fibre, samples of woven linen towels and fabric, weaving looms. The third floor exhibits old household tools used in the 19th century.
